Blackjack Tips

The Sands of the Caribbean® Online Casino

Here are a few blackjack tips that do not deserve their own article but are still very important for a successful blackjack gambling session. Some of these tips may seem obvious even for the blackjack beginner, but some are more subtle and will surely help you improve your game.
  • Set yourself a losing limit. Above that limit you should quit for the day. When you are emotionally uneasy because of losing you might make hasty decisions that could cost you even more.

  • Set yourself a winning limit. When you reach your goal for the day, go home and enjoy it. There are many gamblers who make mistakes simply because they believe that they are "running hot" and nothing can stop them.

  • Only bet what you can afford to lose. Do not play with money with which you relay upon for your daily life.

  • Do not exaggerate with drinks in the casino; it will affect your judgment.

  • Do not be afraid to play alone against the dealer. You have more control and counting the cards is easier.

  • If you are playing with other players at the table, do not let them distract you. Focus on your cards and the dealer's.

  • Playing with multiple decks puts you in a disadvantage against the casino, the greater the number of decks, the bigger the house edge. If you have the option to choose a single or double deck blackjack, go for it.

  • Never take insurance.

  • If the casino you are playing in incorporates the "surrender" rule, use it with a hard 15 against a dealer's 10 and with 16 against the dealer's 9,10 or ace. (do not surrender with 8's, split them)

  • Never split 10's 4's and 5's always split 8's and aces.

  • Do not relay on "gut feelings".

  • Always follow the basic strategy card. There isn't a better way to play the game.

  • Most casinos allow you to use a copy of the strategy card at the table. If you are uncertain of your ability to memorize it by heart, use that option.

  • Casinos do not like card counters. Try to be subtle when counting.
