Slot machines come in many flavors and variables. It is actually becomes pretty hard lately to find a classic 3 reel slot machine. In order to maximize your winning percentage you'll have to understand the difference between the machines and pick the ones which are most suitable to your playing style.
The first thing to know is that all the information that you need can be found right in front you. Don't jump in into the first available sit that you can find but rather try to select a machine which will be make your play time more enjoyable. This of course is very subjective but one thing is certain: you will enjoy more playing a machine that you understand.
The most important part is probably the coin denomination used in the machine. 1$ machines will pay you more than 25c ones, but if your bankroll cannot sustain the higher denomination, go with the lower one. There is more to it that though.
Multiplier machine can offer bigger winnings if you play for more than one coin. If 3 cherries pay 10 coins, they will pay 20 if you played with two coins and 30 if you played with three coins. These machines are recommended since the risk/reward ratio is even.
Bonus Multiplier slots work with the same principal but there will usually be a big difference between playing the maximum amount of coins and a lesser amount. If you take the example given above, 3 cherries might pay 50 with 3 coins played (3 coins being the max). The risk/reward ratio is not even as with regular multiplier and you will feel an urge to play for the maximum amount. If you can afford it, all is well. But if you only want to play for one coin, a regular multiplier machine is a better option.
Multiple payline slots can offer you up to 9 different paylines to win. But any extra paylines will often be activated only if play with extra coins. Again, if you are not willing to invest the maximum amount of coins, it is better to avoid the disappointment of seeing a winning pay line that does not pay anything because you didn't put in enough coins.
Progressive slots usually offer a very
big risk/reward ratio. The down size is that regular winning paylines which are
not the jackpot, will pay less than in the same machine which does not offer a
jackpot. The reason is that a certain amount of the money put into the machine
goes in to the total jackpot, and since the casinos do no want to fund the
jackpot themselves, the regular payouts are set to lower ones. A very important
thing to remember concerning slot machine jackpots is that is order to win the
jackpot you MUST play the maximum amount of coins. If you are not willing to do
that, do not play at these machines. Since you do not stand a chance of hitting
the jackpot, and every win will pay lower than regular, non jackpot slot
machines, there is absolutely no incentive to play those machines. Not to
mention that you avoid the immense feeling of frustration if you happen to hit
the jackpot only to be paid a very small amount compared to the size of the
jackpot.
Choose a slot machine that suits your bankroll and playing style and always
remember that your first and most important goal is to enjoy yourself.
